If you already filed a tax return and need to correct information, you can file an amendment. An amended return is used to update mistakes or missing details on a previously submitted return, such as income, residency, or filing status information.
In order to amend your return with Sprintax, please follow the steps:
1. Log in to your Sprintax Returns account at www.sprintax.com. Select Returns and then open the tax year you want to amend by clicking the tax year shown at the top of your account.
2. In the tax year section, choose the amendment option for the return you want to correct. This option is labeled I want to correct my tax return I already sent to the IRS.
3. Follow the amendment flow and carefully enter or update all required information. Make sure the details match your originally filed return and include any corrections needed for the amended filing.
4. Sprintax will generate Form 1040-X, which is the federal amended tax return form used to correct a previously filed federal return. You will also receive a corrected nonresident tax return and instructions for the next steps.
5. The amendment fee is $79.95 for Federal and $49.95 for State.
6. For a state amendment, email your originally filed state tax return to Sprintax for review. We will confirm whether an amendment is required before you proceed. We recommend contacting our chat support team for instructions on how to submit your state tax return.
Info: Please keep in mind that you need your originally filed Federal and State tax return before you can use the Sprintax amendment option.
