Welcome to Sprintax Returns!

You can use these guides to get started

Closer connection exception to the substantial presence test and Form 8840

If you have been deemed as a resident for tax purposes under the Substantial Presence Test, you are allowed to be request to be treated as a nonresident instead if you meet the conditions to have a closer connection during the year to one foreign country in which you had a tax home than to the United States.

You must file Form 8840, Closer Connection Exception Statement for Aliens, to claim the Closer Connection Exception.

Unfortunately Sprintax does not support IRS Form 8840 (Closer Connection Exception).
