What are the 1099 forms?

The 1099 forms series are used to report various types of income, typically not paid by an employer.

These forms can report include payments such as independent contractors, gambling, royalties, rents, interest, dividends etc.

 

The variants are, but not limited to:

1099-INT  reporting interest income

1099-DIV reporting dividends and distributions

1099-G reporting government payments

1099-B reporting proceeds from broker and barter exchange transactions

1099-NEC reporting nonemployee compensation

1099-MISC reporting miscellaneous information

1099-R reporting distributions from pensions, annuities, retirement etc.
